We try as best as we can to treat emergency cases on an immediate basis — on the same day if possible, or within 24 hours. Dr. Keefe’s first aim is to get you out of pain right away.

Emergency Root Canals Are Available

Root canal treatment can relieve a toothache and help you preserve your natural teeth and smile. A root canal becomes necessary when the soft tissue inside the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. Prompt treatment is necessary to prevent the infection from spreading to the surrounding bone and an abscess from forming.  This can typically be done in one hour.

Dr. Keefe can perform an emergency root canal if you have experienced any of the following:

• Trauma to the tooth
• Tooth pain or sensitivity due to severe decay, a fracture or crack

An emergency root canal with Dr. Keefe is safe, effective and comfortable. Anesthesia is administered during treatment to minimize discomfort. Using the state-of-the-art WaveOne Technology, Dr. Keefe first removes decay and infection in the affected tooth and then cleans the root chambers. He then fills and seals off the root chambers with a natural thermoplastic resin material. The treated tooth is reinforced with a dental restoration.

Same-Day Crowns

If a dental emergency has left you needing a dental crown, Dr. Keefe can help with the innovative CEREC technology. Dental crowns are used to:

• Repair a cracked, fractured or decayed tooth
• Cover a tooth after a root canal
• Cover an abnormally shaped or sized tooth
• Cover a dental implant post that is replacing a missing tooth

Same-day dental crowns with CEREC are strong, beautiful and lifelike. CEREC uses digital imaging to capture the mouth’s unique specifications. This information is used to design and place a well-fitted crown. The crown is crafted from a block of porcelain. With CEREC, there’s no need for multiple dental appointments or an ill-fitting temporary crown. You can walk out of Dr. Keefe’s office with a natural-looking and beautiful permanent crown in a single day.
