Crooked, gapped or otherwise misaligned teeth can be embarrassing and may even pose an oral health issue as teeth are more prone to bacteria buildup in crowded spaces. Kids, teens and adults want straighter teeth but struggle with the idea of metal braces for two or more years. Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligners offer a comfortable and discreet way to fix a misaligned bite that doesn’t limit your food or drink options during treatment. Millions have achieved a straighter, beautiful smile with Invisalign and enjoy the benefits of these clear aligners.
5 Mile Smiles in Spokane, Washington, offers Invisalign and SureSmile for adults and some children and teens. These removable aligners make everyday life with clear braces easy and are worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligners are custom fitted for orthodontic needs and can typically straighten teeth in one year.
Am I a Candidate for Invisalign or SureSmile?
Most people with crooked, crowded or gapped teeth will qualify for Invisalign orthodontic treatment. These aligners can address overbites, underbites, cross bites and open bites, but severe bite issues may require more extensive treatment with traditional braces. Dr. Jason Keefe can determine if Invisalign or SureSmile is a good fit for your needs during your consultation.
Invisalign offers a gamut of options for patients, including kids and teenagers with Invisalign Teen and Invisalign First. Children and teens interested in Invisalign should be mature enough to care for the aligners and wear them as directed.
How Does Invisalign Work?
The Invisalign process starts with your consultation, teeth evaluation and a dental impression of your mouth. The impression is used to create your treatment plan with Invisalign and fabricate a series of 20 to 30 pairs of aligners made of a transparent, thermoplastic material that slips over the teeth for inconspicuous teeth straightening.
Each set of aligners is used for about two weeks and then switched for the next batch. Invisalign isn’t painful, but some patients may experience slight pressure during the first few days of a new set as the teeth adjust to the gradual movement.
Dr. Keefe often meets with his Invisalign patients to provide the new aligners and monitor their progress. Patients should wear a retainer at night at the end of Invisalign treatment to maintain their straight smiles.
SureSmile clear aligners work in a similar way and are created by a digital lab specialist for an individualized treatment plan that is comfortable and addresses your orthodontic needs.
